  Field Service Drains Me....

  at this point i absolutely hate field service.

  i have to keep going hough, or else the brothers in my group will be all over my back.

  part of me just doesnt give a f***, but something inside me doent wanna have to deal with it.

  Here's one way of looking at it: If your parents will support you in getting a college education and only require that you attend two meetings a week and one morning of Field Circus, do the math. 6 hours of your time per week in exchange for room and board and (possibly) tuition & transportation assistance is a huge bargain if you're just looking at the finances.

  The other side of the coin is your sanity, which only you can answer.

  Whatever decisions you make, take your time and look at the big picture.

  Every publisher must pay for assembly costs???

  just saw this posted on watchtower uncensored .... .

  want to hear the latest debacle?

  the po in my mom's congregation told them that at the next 1-day-assembly it will be the responsibility of every publisher to put 3 in the box towards the running costs at the assembly hall.

  I always dropped in $5/family member/day. Family of four, 3 day DC: $60.00.

  And I always told myself how cheap it was compared to seeing B. B. King at the same venue.

  Wow, letsslatejws! JWs walked out of Pocahontas?!?

  The most embarrassing time for me was when I was strong-armed by my parents into walking out of a "PG" movie when I was about 12 years old. Walking out all together was bad enough, but my Elder-Dad had to make loud, self-righteous comments in an effort to shame other JWs in attendance to follow suit. None did.

  My siblings and I all vowed to never go to a movie with our parents again.

  Toilet quandries: The seat: Up/Down and Toilet paper direction

  those who have lived with the opposite sex know of the frustration of being lectured about some triviality.. the toilet seat/paper controversy is among the most inflammatory.. men who forget to put the toilet seat back down inspire anger, rage, resentment and the stern lecture.. the easiest solution is to train the man to always sit down when he goes.. .

  others argue over the direction of the toilet paper: forward overlap or backward underlap.. .

  how do you deal with these issues and how violent do you become?.

  Paper over the top.

  Don't discuss the logic of any part of this.

  One very ho-hum movie from the mid-80s, Legal Eagles, starring Robert Redford, Debra Winger & Daryl Hannah had a LOT of shots of Bethel buildings in it.

  Which brings up another aspect of JWism and movies.

  How closed-lipped were you to other JWs about which movies you had seen?

  I remember when Legal Eagles came out, I was still living in a VERY conservative area of the US and there was a bit of a controversy among the local JWs because some were saying "Oh, have you seen Legal Eagles? You should! It's got lots of shots of Bethel in it." And of course, in any congregation, there's going to be someone who will take issue with any movie. Elders even got drug into the fray because some JWs hadn't learned the lesson not to blab your movie viewing habits all over the Kingdom Hall.
